I had just stepped out the front door when I heard the sounds of workmen. Kaiden 3 normally loves to pass the wagons and loves watching the heavy machines at work, fixing the road.
As we walked passed, the husband walking with Kaiden and I pushing Kody 2 in his pram on our way to nursery, we walked passed the two work men when one very loudly said;
“There is nothing fucking left in this cunt” - referring to an empty can of something that he was shaking
I shot a look of disgust in his direction, which he took no notice of.
Not an apology for using such foul language in front of two young children was given.
I muttered my annoyance to the husband who told me to contact the firm and make a complaint. The firm Owen Pugh, must have been contracted from our local council, as they are not a local firm as such.
Now I am not one to make an issue of nothing, its cold out there and I am sure they have been working on the road most of the day. Its lunchtime and no doubt they are fed up, hungry and were annoyed at being out of the spray they needed.
But was there any excuse for such language? Especially when they could clearly see us walking past.
Would you make a complaint?

Errr ye get straight on the phone..
I have emailed them along with the link to this blog post, I am fuming that I had the kids with me,
I would make a complaint Hun totally unexecptable if it was their children I bet they wouldn’t like it x
Yes I certainly would. There’s little children who copy around the streets and they as professionals should not be using such language, go for it I say xx
Absolutely I would complain. I don’t think there is ever any need for language like that, and especially not in front of children.
They’ve got nothing at all to moan about. They should think themselves lucky they have jobs!!! No need for swearing while on the job at all. I’m sure there are plenty of poeple out there to replace them!!! They should be diciplined for ther behaviour!! X
i would put an complaint in hunni x x
I would complain. It’s unprofessional to swear at work, whether in a shop, an office or outside! And you should be able to walk the streets without hearing foul language.
You’re the parent, you have to take action whether you want to or not in a case like this.
If it happened again then I’d definitely complain. It may just be a one off. Maybe they just need reminding thet they’re working in public and there are children around so need to watch what they say
totally hun
I would be straight on the phone as well as making them aware to my annoyance as I am walking away. Its rude and disgusting that grown men can clearly see a mother and children walking past and still proceed to use such language. How would they like it if someone was to walk past their children and use such language??
Owen Pugh Sort Out Your Workmen’s Foul Language http://t.co/eWG9IRbd
Defo put a complaint in… That’s totally unacceptable!! It really infuriates me when people swear around kids!! X
you did the right thing! how awful!
Defo put a complaint in they shouldn’t use that sort of language while people and children are walking past defo talk it further and even in a few days go to the extent to email them again n tell them ur kids gave repeated what the workmen said wot a joke xx
omg i would deffo put a complaint it plus i would odf done more then shot the bloke a mucky look … thats totally out of order n when he saw that 2 young children had heard him then he should of said sorry ….. totally out of order xx
I defo would complain!!
Whenever we (my girls) pass someone who swears loud enough for me to hear without my hearing aids I make a point of saying something to them! x
Disgusting! If there’s one thing I hate is swearing infront of children! Its almost as bad as smoking around them :-@
I wouldnt personally coz i dnt like to get people into trouble but i would have said something like LANGUAGE there are young children present x
I would make a complant! Its soo rude and for him not even to say sorry for the way he spoke wen kids around is plane al rudeness! Xx
I’d be straight on the phone or emailing them, that’s bang out of order! And for him not to even apologize, think I’d have thrown something at him to be fair x
i’d have told him about his foul language, once finished taking the children to nursery i would have been striaght on the phone complaining about this foul mouthed individual! x
defo hun
That’s disgraceful, I swear a lot but not in front of children my own or others
oh yes complain! builders or not, hard work or not, hungry or not they are working and representing a company….not giving a very good professional impression if you ask me x
That is shocking! I was once on a bus with my son who was 3/4 at the time and a driver called another passenger a fuckig bastard! I reported her and got nothing back! I was more furious as y son said mum what’s a fucking bastard! :/ x
Complain… U did the right thing, I’d have even hacked off, only today my son John, 4 learnt a new word, Wanker… Yes wanker, after getting the bus to school. There was an argument with the driver and someone trying to dodge fares so after a heated moment the guy walks off the bus shouting wanker and shaking his fist… My kids were watching so I said, tut, naughty man…. Thought nothing of it…. Dropped kids of to school, no problem, only when it came to home time I was called n by johns key worker and she told me John had shook his fist at her and called her a wanker when she took away some pens at tidy up time… Had to relate story to her… Thankfully she was understanding and another mam saw what had happened on the bus…. Had to explain to John that its a naughty work and only naughty boys use them… X
