It was so funny to read about the Australian DJs who phoned the hospital where Kate Middleton was staying and for radio station ratings they impersonated the queen? I agree it wasn’t remotely funny at all. First of all I for one did not find it funny and I do believe there is a death penalty in the law that states nobody can impersonate the queen. The hospital worker, a woman who fell victim to this prank is now dead, suspected suicide. Not quite so funny now is it?
The Daily Mail reports; DJs impersonating the Queen and Prince Charles were allowed to speak directly to staff on the Duchess’s ward and obtain detailed updates on her condition, which were then played on air.
2Day FM presenters Mel Greig and Michael Christian called the hospital at 5.30am UK time.
Speaking in a dodgy English accent, Miss Greig said: “Oh, hello there. Could I please speak to Kate please, my granddaughter?”
Believing she was speaking directly to the Queen, the receptionist said: “Oh yes, just hold on ma’am”.
While I feel for the hospital worker and by no means have any views on the security of the hospital or in the way in which it deals with its telephone calls, that’s a matter for the policy of the hospital, but this poor women then was at the centre of media frenzy. Was it her fault? No not at all, the blame lies in the hands of 2 Djs.
The hospital’s chief executive said it was a foolish and deplorable prank but added that patient confidentiality is taken extremely seriously and that telephone protocols are now being reviewed.
The radio presenters later apologised for the stunt, saying: “We were very surprised that our call was put through. We thought we’d be hung up on as soon as they heard our terrible accents.
“We’re very sorry if we’ve caused any issues and we’re glad to hear that Kate is doing well.”
The prank call was pre-recorded and vetted by lawyers before being broadcast to listeners in Sydney.
While Kate has been released from hospital and is resting at home, the women who took the call is now dead.
Blood on their hands?
Should these 2 Djs now face punishment?
Lets hear your views …

very crap joke gone very wrong , i think they should b accounted 4 their actions , there should also b a public appolgie as well ,
I think they should be punished pranks are all well and good until someone gets hurt and that is exactly what’s happened here. Not only did this poor woman feel so awful that she took her own life she has also left behind a family. Did these Dj’s even consider this when they were trying to get more ratings! I think they should have to face this woman’s family. Maybe they won’t find it so funny then x
I honestly think the 2 djs should be accountable for this. If its proven that the poor woman committed suicide as a result of this incident, I believe (although correct me if I’m wrong) its deemed as manslaughter as they have caused the series of events that lead to her death.
i personally think yes they should be punished. i dont find it very funny and also think that they should face the poor hospital ladys family
x
That is sickening :O Poor lady! Yes i do believe the 2 DJ’s should be punished + a very public apology. Bad prank gone wrong x
The poor family of this woman. The DJs need to be held accountable for this woman’s reaction to there prank. They now have blood on there hands

Poor woman she felt so bad about what had happened she felt the need to take her own life… it doesnt bear thinking about what was going through her mind!! I believe they should be punished…. what they did was very wrong… but at the same time how were they to know it would end in a death?? Im torn…. just feel so sorry for the womans family xx
That poor woman and her family
x
I agree that the radio DJ’s are at fault….. but what about the hospital??
They had one of the biggest profile patients in their care and they just put the call straight through – without any security questions, any doubt and with people calling who are impersonating a very poor english accent. The hospital should have been on high security alert with having Kate in their care and they neglecting their privacy procedures. (and surely the queen wouldnt be Kates next of kin so her information shouldnt have been given to her anyway – even if it was the queen who was calling).
After listening to the recording, it is a very bad prank that has awful consequences… but all blame shouldnt lay on the dj’s. That could have been anyone calling – the press – a deranged fan!
They are actually unsure if the reason of her committing suicide is due just do this as she had personal issues x I feel for the family and friends of this lady xxxxx
I agree with your comments and yes they should be punished x
i think this is disgusting, cant believe they would even think about it let alone do it, i feel so sorry for the poor lady. it musnt of been easy for her, my heart goes out to her family xx
yes i do agree the 2 DJ’s are at fault but they are not on their own the radio station ok’d this to go on air so they too should shoulder some of the blame as too should the hospital but i dont think anyone could forsee what was goin to happen & did happen i feel sorry for the lady’s family as it is truely awful & in no way what this lady did should have resulted in her feelin she should take her own life . i feel something needs to be done to make sure this never happens again it boils down to a bad prank gone very wrong x
I honestly think it was a publisity stunt gone wrong, there must have been more going on in the poor nurses life. It needs looking into properly and not speculated upon. But I do feel for her family and friends this must be very traunmatic but probably wouldn’t have come to light had it not been for the prank. xx
Honestly I do believe that the two DJ’s should be sacked from their jobs, made to apologies publicly to the family and punished for impersonating the queen. But I do not believe they are 100% to blame for whats happened. Although I do believe they tipped this poor woman to take her own life (if this is what has happened) I have to sit and wonder was there anything else in her life before this incident that made her feel low as well was she in debt, in an abusive relationship, being threatened or maybe had severe depression and felt so low about herself already it only took one silly thing to tip her over the edge?? There is also the hospital at fault as they have broke patient confidentiality even though technically Kate is now part of the Royal family no one should have discussed her condition with anyone not even the queen. How would they like their personal details passed on to anyone who phoned up claiming to be a relative of theirs?? More security should have been put in to place to protect Kate then maybe this wouldn’t have happened. Also why did the lawyers allow the two DJ’s to play the conversation out too everyone who was listening?? Again another breech of confidentiality which is also a sackable offense. I feel for the poor nurse and her family I hope for their sakes they soon get some answers xx
My thoughts, love & prayers go out to that woman family. I think that they should be punished for their actions, but I agree with Mummy_Lala as the hospital has to take some responsiblity as staff need further training on patient confidentiality!!!
Feel so sorry for this women, she clearly thought what she had done was so wrong she too her own life
The people who made the call should be totally shamed an should be punished for their stupidity if nothing else! The hospital clearly is lacking security for such a call to be allowed through in the first place too
Very stupid joke! I was shocked and sadend to see she died!! X
Very stupid sick joke they should be sacked from there jobs.. Thoughts go out to her family n friends r.i.p fly high with the angels xxx
Bit extreme like ain’t it… But they should have been punished… Poor woman x
