I have been dedicating some quality time to figure out how to be positive and to change the way I perceive myself and to prevent all the negative thoughts racing around inside my head, it’s no easy task. I am a very negative person and can quickly focus on all the bad things in my life. I forget all the positive things. I want to change this thinking pattern.
I have learned that if you want to achieve your dreams then positive thinking is the way forward. The negative thoughts prevent me from moving on with my life and finding peace with myself.
Learning How To Be Positive
When you are feeling so negative about doing something or being in a situation it’s so very easy to just give in. I have learned that standing and facing it is does make it easier and I do feel proud of myself from fighting it. There is no such thing as just getting on with it, but there is a way to deal with it and break it down into smaller steps that seem more manageable. No matter what situation you are facing, you can do it if you believe in yourself enough.
I have found that I struggle so much more with negativity when I am not looking after myself correctly. There are times when I am not sleeping or eating well and this has a great impact upon my mental health, I have recognised this area of my life needs great improvement and U will be working on it to make positive changes.
Exercise we know is good for us and while there is still some debate to whether exercise is beneficial to your mental health I do find even after a brisk and short walk, I am more able to concentrate and have a clearer head. Although my anxiety at the moment prevents me some days I am making an effort to get out as much as I can, even for short periods.
Learning how to be positive is not as difficult as I thought, I have found that I am in a much more positive frame of mind when I surround myself with others who I can relate too. This offers me the opportunity to see that I am not suffering alone, there are others out there who are going through what I am and I am not alone.
I have been able to overcome difficult obstacles by breaking them down into smaller segments and ticking them off one by one. It can be so easy to allow my own self-pity to take over, my future depends on how I foresee it and I want it to be a bright and successful one, therefore I need to make changes.
By surrounding yourself with positive people offers you a huge benefit when learning how to be positive as their uplifting spirit is contagious. I have placed some distance between those who often bring me down or make me feel negative about myself.
I no longer want to think of the negative things I see when I look into the mirror, I want the positive aspects of myself to shine though. I know that I have positives, I just have to find them for myself and I have to learn how to be positive when I think about myself. If I always give off negative vibes then those around me will feel that too.
I am throwing myself into learning how to be positive and I urge you to join me on my self-discovery journey.

Makes absolute sense to me. I set up a Groovy Mums blog hop in September 2011 to help move me forwards. Then I could not put a photo of me on my website as thought people would stop reading my blog if I did. Now I accept myself more warts and all. Have also found celebrating little baby steps helps. Also they should be self-defined. I have lost my Dad recently and coped so much better than when I lost Mum in 2009. I think watching my thoughts actively has helped with this.
Good luck on your positive journey.
That’s great need to be more positive a well I always think of the worst x
I totally get this because it’s what I try very hard to do on a daily bases. It’s good to read about another person’s attempts to stay positive and I feel inspired by your efforts. I understand that some days are easier than others and that remaining constantly aware is important. Dark thoughts can spring from no where especially when you least expect them. Glad to have found you through Brit mums.

Good article and thanks for writing this too. I think everyone at some point feels negative, but I also think that negative moments in our life are there to help us to see alternative ways of doing things and maybe even change direction.
