I am going to visit my brother and stay with him for 3 weeks in November, the problem is he lives in Australia and I am
leaving the husband and the kids at home, the other problem is I have nothing to wear. No seriously, I don’t.
It will be summer time in Australia when I go so it will be shorts and bikinis weather and there is the problem I don’t own a pair of shorts or a bikini for that matter.
Looking at my wardrobe is depressing, I have no nice clothes, they are the ones I have had for years and worn time and time again, OK so there’s the odd thing I have bought but I seriously need a revamp.
But what does a mother of 6 wear? Certainly not shorts and bikini I’m 32 I am feeling old. I ask my mother, who is traveling with me what she is packing and guess what? She’s taking shorts and bikini.
I tend to live in jeans or leggings, I never wear killer heels and I much prefer my Flossies. I would stay in my PJS all day if I could. When did I become such a fashion disaster? When I had kids.
My brother is 5 years younger than me and is taking me clubbing with his friends, great I have never been clubbing in my life, What do you wear to go clubbing? Certainly not leggings I am guessing?
While the kids closets are bursting at the seams of the latest fashion clobber, I have to think about actually going shopping for me, where do I even go? The thought is quite exciting but I know it will leave me full of guilt, when I go shopping for myself and buy nothing for the kids.
I had a moan at the husband about never feeling sexy anymore and he reminded me that I always look great to him. Bless him.
I am also thinking it might be a good idea to go shopping when all the summer items go on sale ready for the winter season coming in stock, I hate spending money in myself so might feel better if it looks like a bargain.
So ladies, which high street stores are great to shop in? Do let me know.

I go to primark, asda, tesco, charity shops, masala and the website everything £5. i need a new wardrobe! Mainly skirts, dresses, heels and underwear! I’ve got tops coming out my ears! X x
Matalan*
primark, matalan, tesco, asda, get yourself some nice vests and shorts, you will need to in the heat, and some flip flops, youll always look better if your happy with what your wearing so make sure your comfortable and yes i do wear leggings occasionally to go out, under a pretty, long top
Why not buy a few items to take with you then ask your brother to take you shopping when you arrive ? That way you won’t buy stuff u think you need and then won’t ever wear xxx
primark have fab shorts in for summer for a fiver i bought 3 pairs lol, vest tops for 1.70 who can say no to that, bargin in its own rights. shoe market/shoe zone (if u have them where u are) are brill for sandals that are only a few quid each, asda is brill for bikinis and many have them on sale now as we aint having a summer this yr by the looks of it. also look in charity shops for clothes (not bikinis an underwear though) as some people are starting to get rid of stuff now. u cant half find some bargins if u look. even if u just buy it all cheaply dont matter if u wear them again or not, just sell them on facebook if u dont want them when u finished. also if theres stuff u dont want now throw it on fb then that way ur making a few quid towards ur new wadrobe and theres nothing to feel guilty about as u have sold the old stuff to make space and pay for the new stuff
simples xx
New look, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Matalan. I got some lovely vests from sainsbury’s for £3! Bargin! Put If you dont think you will wear them much again there is no point slashing out. Also try some kitten heels or people wear flat dolly shoes when going clubbing hun. Just shorts and a nice top for clubbing. Even funky patterned tights/leggings xx
I think it all depends on what you like/feel comfortable wearing. It doesn’t matter where you go; just go browsing in some different places and get an idea of what your likes and dislikes are. Once you figure that out, go try things one and experiment with various looks. It can be fun once you get the hang of it; even better, when you find something you love that is on sale, that’s fashion heaven!
Can get some lovey cheap clothes in primary or even supermarkets and beat paying the prices of say river island when there the same thing nearly x
best places would actually be online. bon prix and every thing five pound are good. but hun what ever you were you’ll look amazing.
im same hun
i moan n moan that i have no clothes but i never buy for me only the kids even now i need maternity clothes still buying for kiddies hehe, ive no idea what u can take but i hope u get it sorted and have a fab time x
Primark, asda, tesco have some nice things, and I’m sure primark have a sale on at the moment hun? Like you said you feel guilty but it feels better knowing they were a bargain
sure you’ll find something
x
Sounds like me! I wouldnt know where to start if i went shopping for myself! I live in jeans and vest tops! X
I’ve been to oz .. for 3 weeks … i’m a girlie girl … the toiletries alone was going take up most of my luggage allowance … plus shoes for every occassion and the ‘just in case’ outfits. So my top tips would be make sure everything mixes and matches so you get the most wear from it all but it looks like you have loads of different outfits .. for example – White linen trousers with a cami top and sparkly flip flops for lunch in Darling Harbour … change the top to a long sleeve tunic style top and dolly / ballet shoes and you’re ready for a smart evening dinner … use the cami top to wear with shorts for Bondi Beach … the long sleeve tunic top will go with leggings and the ballet shoes/sparkly flip flops for casual dinner… the leggings and the long sleeve tunic style top with ballet shoes/kitten heels for clubbing. Take one essential little black dress that can be dressed up or down with the ballet shoes, sparkly flip flops or kitten heels! Most people in oz wear shorts / flippy skirt, flipflops and a cami top / tshirt everywhere! Oh and don’t for get a plain black fitted little cardi that can be worn over everything as the eve’s do get chilly out there. Sainsburys / Tesco / Asda all do fab cheap ranges in addition to the high street chains – primarni (primark!) and new look are great and H&M for those slightly nicer pieces would be my recommendations x
asda how loads of lovely things and its not badly priced xx
You will look great wherever you shop, and good on hubby.xx
and we have had loads of post since about clothes for this holiday lol
