What have you found to be the best contraception?

Come on then ladies what have you all found to be the best contraception? What are the pros and cons you’ve had with each? Wrote one of the mothers on my Facebook mums group.

I have 6 children so as you can guess I have not used much in the way of contraception.

Personally I have used the pill but I was useless at remembering to take it so I tried the Depo-Provera injection. I found the depo injection worked well for me, as I only had to go and have a top up every 12 weeks, it also stopped my period from arriving which was a great side effect for me, but the downside to it was my fertility would be greatly affected in the future. It also made my moods more erratic each month.

I had the implant placed into my arm three weeks ago, it was nothing how I imagined it would be and so far so good, no side effects to speak of.

With so much variety out there it can be difficult to know which form of contraception to choose. We all want something that will work, but it has to also work for us personally. I have heard horror stories from women who have bled nonstop or gained a great deal of weight from having the Depo-Provera injection, thankfully I was lucky and suffered from none of these.

the worse contraceptive iv had is the Depo injection..i had this after my daughter was born and bled and spotted on it constant so the nurse suggested a 2nd 1 to get it used to my body..the same happened then i went to the pill, Microgynocol, was the best i even missed a few and didn’t fall..i came off it and the month after i was preg..will defiantly go back to this when baby is born xx

Well I fell pregnant on cerazette so I aint a big fan of it anymore lol and I put on 3stone in 9months with the depo jab so I’m not a fan of it, I’m considering the implant just now but admit the thought of gettin it scares me, think I need to do some research on it!

    No sex…..

  5. I’ve used 4 different types if contraception, each different ..

    - condoms – personally for me I don’t like them, apart from the fact I don’t think they’re reliable hence why my 13 month old is here lol
    - pill – can’t remember which one it was I used, think it might have been Cezette or the one that sounds like that lol, the one that doesn’t have a break? Well anyway, they were okay but I was useless at remembering to take them, then the second time I used them they gave me TONS of pregnancy symptoms .. I took 2 and I was in my bed for about a week, constant sickness, tenderness etc.
    - implant – my VERY least favorite .. I had it in 4 weeks after I had my daughter (July last year) and I had it removed at the beginning on June this year. I had constant bleeding, my moods were terrible I was a nasty bugger. My bleeding could last for up to 6 weeks at a time, I’d stop for a week and then I’d be on again for another 5 weeks etc.
    - mirena coil (IUS) – so far this has got to be my favorite .. no problems, some slight cramping and bleeding for the first week after I had it in and I’ve only had it a month so far and I recommend it to anyway.

  6. The depo injection was great for me. was on it for 3 years! Changed to the pill n i put on a bit of weight n initially i went of sex. but that’s it x

I found the depo injection easy and convenient. A inject once every 3 months and no periods =D Sweet! Only problem is it made me pile on the weight =( pros and cons. But i am useless at remembering taking the pill and i dont really fancy having a coil put in me or the implant xx

  8. the best contraception for me was the deop injections xx
