You’re also likely to remember more of your dreams as pregnant women have more disturbed sleep, due to waking up several times a night to go to the bathroom and shifting bump from side to side to find a comfy position! Dreams in the First Trimester

According to experts, certain themes are common to each stage of a woman’s pregnancy. Dreams where you’ve been naked are common in the first trimester, as this is when many women feel the most vulnerable during their pregnancy. Been dreaming of the sea or huge lakes? Dreaming of water could signify your growing awareness of your amniotic fluids. Perhaps you’ve been feeling rather guilty since you had that dream about an ex lover, don’t worry, this doesn’t signify inappropriate feelings towards your ex, moreover dreaming of old boyfriends is your subconscious clearing them from your mind.

Second Trimester Dreaming

During your second trimester, dreaming of animals is common, as animals signify relationship between mother and her child. If you dream of a cute fluffy animal, this signifies a positive bond between you and your baby. Dreaming of a baby wolf on the other hand for example, signifies you see your pregnancy as a threat to something in your life. This doesn’t mean you don’t have a bond with your baby; it could be your fears over losing your social life, for example. Women often dream that something has happened to their baby, they can’t find him/her, or the baby is sick. These dreams signify the anxiety that most expectant mothers feel about their parenting ability, and fears over the demands of being a mother.

Third Trimester Dreams

If you’re in your third trimester, you might be having dreams about going away somewhere. This represents labour, and is a way of your mind preparing itself for the labour. Dreams during the final trimester are often scary. This is completely normal as it’s your subconscious’s way of dealing with our fears over the birth and becoming a new mother. Dreams about rivers bursting, water overflowing, huge waves, are common during the last trimester, as they represent the birth itself, an issue on every pregnant woman’s mind. You might also be having some unexpected saucy dreams. Although sex might be the last thing no your mind during late pregnancy, if sex has taken a back seat lately it, racy dreams could be your mind’s way of compensating for this!

We all know that some dreams are completely random, but our fears and insecurities often come out in dreams in unexpected ways, so if you want to find out what your dreams might mean, try keeping a dream journal and jotting down your dreams as soon as you wake up. There are lots of Internet sites where you can decipher your dreams. Why not ask your partner what they’ve been dreaming of too, telling each other your dreams can be great fun and you’ll get some interesting insights into your partners mind! (if you have been dreaming of your ex however, maybe don’t mention that one….)
