- Allow yourself to get organised and plan your days if possible. This is easier said than done, but making a list of jobs that need to be done can help you take one thing at a time.It will also give you a sense of achievement everytime you cross one off.
- Let other members of the family know how stressed you are feeling Delegate some of the tasks. Christmas is not just down to one person – everyone shares the duties on Christmas day.
- Take a 10 minute break,Yes I know its hard when we have children even if its
just for a brew and sit down.It is important to take time to re-charge your energy levels you don’t want to be running on empty.
- Try not to say ‘yes’ to everything that’s asked of you. It’s ok to say no sometimes.
- Breathing exercises.Fantastic way to relieve stress and only take a few seconds.
- If Christmas is an emotional time for you,try to think about the happy times together.Opening up to others will also help you.
- If you have small children who need occupying while you are busy, why not try giving them an early Christmas present or creative things to do.They could make table decorations for Christmas day.
- Have fun laughter reduces levels of stress hormones. So put on a funny film, or have a laugh playing some family games.
- Don’t go over budget That’s sure to see you worrying over Christmas and beyond about how you’re going to pay for it all. Children prefer your presence than your presents

these are fab tips to get through christmas. although i can fully undrestand why people get stressed about it but im sure taking it one step at a time would work as well. also early preperation like the presents if like me you are lucky enough to really have no birthdays (well none of the kids at least) from say september, start making lists of presents to buy, cards to be written and make note of anyones adress if they need to be sent that way each week you can buy one or two presents then in no time you have the presents and have time for other things such as watching films with the kids, visiting family and of course sorting dinner out xx
As long as my family are apply I’m happy xx
These are really good tips. My family are very understanding and have invited my oh, baby and me to theirs so we dont have to worry about the stress of food.
What a brilliant post. You should do a series!
I did a sort of blogging for dummies over
on one of the craft forums and I thought it was too simple for them, but the amount of
emails I got asking questions just like what you addressed was unbelievable. As young
people today we have grown up with computers, but it’s easy to forget that even people
just a few years older have not! Really good post!
The best thing I did was to start buying Xmas present in January and buy a couple every month x
We all get like this at christmas lol , but I totally agree with puting your feet up for 5 mins with a cuppa makes all the difference and getting everyone to join in to do a little something makes it very easy on you but brings the family together x
This has brilliant ideas & I think I will be refreshing myself with this page closer to Christmas as it wuld be so nice to have a stress free one!!! =]
