1: Stop sitting and thinking, too much of using that brain will frazzle it. While thinking is good, jot down those thoughts and get stuck right in and revert back to the note book when needed.

2: Stop putting off today, if you have a plan then get the wheels in motion. I find writing when I have the passion provides the best content. Plan as much as you like but unless you start, you get nowhere.

3: Perfectionism can destroy you and your ideas. Stop looking for perfection and just write. Perfect does not exist, just do your best and it will take care of itself.

4: Do not take on too much, you may think your very busy as you never stop, your talking to the husband about what to eat for tea, your on Twitter keeping up with others and your answering emails all at the same time. But have you got that blog post written yet? Stop being busy and concentrate.

5: Prioritise what needs to be done and close off all other distractions. Stay away from social network sites until you have finished writing. Take the phone off the hook and ignore the TV.

6: Take your time and ensure a basic spell check at least is done. Mistakes will be made but these can always be put right. If you need more time to write then save it in your drafts and come back to it if your not truly happy with it.

7: Unlike me who delves right on in there, unless you love the manic life I advise you to step your toes into the water carefully. Do not promise 3 guest posts (yes you should be guest blogging)  by the end of the week if you can not write them and do not take on extra work that will be stressful to you.

  1. Guest bloggers I could do with some of those. Lol u blogged about that too?
I love your blogs, another great one :)

  2. Very good points! Don’t stress over it. I find if I don’t know what my next post will be – life happens and wham you have your next post. Sometimes 2 or 3. Definitely stay off the social networks until you are done. I still produce some typos with all the spell checks in the world and double checking. I tend to change words – spelled right but with different meanings. Have some fun, don’t sweat the small stuff and you’ll be fine!

So very true writers block only remains until you next do something, then you have so many ideas your running round in circles.

  3. One trick that I learned in doing NaNoWriMo that I have used a few times working on content is setting a timer for 15 minutes and writing, non-stop, and not worrying about editing. When it comes to writing, you want to get the information out. When the timer goes off, then you can go back and edit it for spelling and content. I can usually get at least half, if not all, of a post in that 15 minutes. Taking a 5 to 10 minute break between each session, I can do about 1600 words in about an hour and half (and I’m not a fast typist).

    Thanks for sharing your tips!

  4. love the way this is written hun x
