Do you ever sit down to write a blog post to find ten minutes later your still sat there staring at that black white screen? What do you do? Give up blogging for the day?
Most bloggers I am guessing get writers block from time to time, I am what some would call a manic blogger and never seem to run out of things to say, I am like that in real life too so my blog just coincides with who I am.
If you really are struggling with writers block here are a few tips that may help:
Start with a question
As I have explained before your heading and the first few lines of your post are the most important. Do you remember about that 3 second window shopping rule? If you are pondering what to write about, then start with a question. Then go onto answer that question, by the time you finish you will have a great blog post that not only is interesting to read as it is an answer to someone’s problem, you may have just helped somebody too.
Jot down as you go
I have a note book and when ideas come to me I quickly scribble a few words down. These notes often mean nothing once I sit down to write as I usually forget or never understand the scribble, but they do help. If you have a great idea but are not able to write your post at that time, scribble down your idea for when you do.
Use old posts or comments as prompts
Look at which of your posts are your top hits, what are people wanting to read? Have a look through your comments, what are readers talking about, what do they want to know more about, can you help with these problems? Then revamp an old post.
Find a prompt
If you are still struggling why not look for some writing prompts, maybe a blog you have read had an interesting post, use a song title, Google writing prompts and a huge selection is readily available to you. Then choose the one that stands out and get writing.
Set a time limit
If after a certain time you still have nothing to write about, then write about nothing. If your heart is not in a post then its a waste of time publishing it. If it is not enjoyable to write, then chances are its not going to be enjoyable to read it.
Write about another blogger
This is a fantastic way to get over your writers block. Go off and write/review your favourite blogger, then make sure the blogger knows you have written about them, you may find a new stream of traffic heading your way too.

great ideas
Hi, I have just read loads of your posts about blogging and just wanted to say they are great and very helpful. The above post in particular has been helpful as over the last few weeks I have definitely had writers block. I also identified with what you said in a previous post about how all bloggers lose inspiration and energy at some point which has happened to me recently. Thank you.
