How To Steal Another Blogs Traffic

ID 10064688 How To Steal Another Blogs Traffic

Oh the title sounds pretty gruesome doesn’t it? Ah well you get nowhere in life if you don’t play the game.

It’s pretty easy to do, very simple, yet so many fail to even know this exists. When you visit a blog I am hoping after you have spent the time to read a post that you then find the time to comment. This is one of my pet hates with the blogging world. Leaving a comment can be so beneficial to your own blog, so use it to your advantage.

You are NOT just leaving a comment on a blog post, you are opening up your own blog to a new audience, intentionally you are stealing that blog owners traffic.

So just how do you get noticed from leaving a comment I hear you say? Well let me explain:

Search for those blogs in the same niche as you, there is no point wasting your time trying to comment on something you know nothing about. Of course sourcing out the “highly ranked” ones works best, as they get a large amount of traffic.

Never spam a blog, I know this would annoy me as a blog owner, but personally I love comments, hey who doesn’t, so go and comment on as many as you can.

When you leave a comment, think before you type, writing your comment up on Word for example will make you sit and look at what your typing. You would never just write and publish straight to your own blog I am hoping, so take the same time and care over each and every comment you leave, then edit it so it is perfect.

Quit leaving a few words, if your going to bother to comment then actually comment. Offer your opinion, offer some advice. Use names when talking or replying to another commenter.

If there are many comments, a tip to getting easily noticed is to reply to the first comment, the one right at the top of the list of course, get your name seen.

Sign up to receive email notifications, yes I know too many will annoy you, they do me sometimes and I have been known to unsubscribe , but this gives you a great opportunity of getting into a conversation with others.

Use your Twitter name to post your comment rather than an open URL , this makes it easy for others to follow you.

Happy Traffic Stealing ….

I read and I’m commenting! I even linked my blog, check me out!
I ALWAYS write and post immediately when I blog – all my writing is done that way, as a stream of consciousness. I find I get better results that way a I write better if I’m not over thinking.

    • The Real Supermum says:

Well hello my dear, fancy seeing you here! See now I can check out your blog so easily now and so can all my readers, so yes now you can steal my traffic x I think it ignorant to read someone’s blog but not comment x

  2. Mommy Rotten says:

This totally works! I know I’m so happy when someone leaves a comment I immediately check out their blog if they have one. So, at least one guaranteed page view. Thanks for the tip.

    • The Real Supermum says:

Give it a try and see how it works for you x If nothing else you will soon become known as a very nice blogger who takes the time to leave comments x

  3. Great post! :-) As a blogger I love getting comments too, but not many people leave them – lots of views but not so many comments!
I’ll often comment on other blogs if they relate to me or I enjoyed the post.

    • The Real Supermum says:

So many will say they read yet never have time to comment em wait a minute – would you come into my house, look around then ignore me? No so don’t do it when you visit my online home I say x

    • What a Brilliant Idea! We are just getting into the blogging world, and it’s quite a bit overwhelming at times. I’ve been wondering how to get more traffic to my blog (www.jadelouisedesigns@gmail.com), and this is a brilliant Idea! I would LOVE to have more people comment on my blog as well! This is definitely good news to share!

I believe I found your blog via someone’s “twitter” post, and I’m very glad I did. Do you post “traffic self help” tips often? We’ve just subscribed to your emails, following on Network/ and more. :)
      Thank you!

  4. Fantastic article – thank you so much for sharing. I try to do a fair bit of reading each day, but have never paid much attention to trying to drive traffic to my own site… thank you for takin the time to write this article!

  5. Great post. I was about to be upset, then realized what it was about. I always try to leave meaningful comments. I hate hate spam comments, or simple a hey I’m following you follow me back kind of comment. I usually take my time to get over to their blog cuz if they aren’t going to be genuine, why should I .
Anyway, I thought this post was great and I stumbled it for ya! ;)

    • The Real Supermum says:

Oh upset is not good, but I guess stealing traffic does not sound good ha. Yes spam comments annoy me too, I think I am popular until I see they are all spam. Thank you for the Stumble x

  6. I’m one guilty of not commenting often…I’ve been trying to change that the last few months, doesn’t seem to have made too much difference on my blog traffic. Guess it’s good that my motivation is not to get something out of it…though I wouldn’t be mad if I did. LOL
I laughed about not writing/posting right away to the blog…that is how I write every post. It’s just a little old family blog to keep the grandma’s up to date, so stream of consciousness/this is our life posts work for me.

    • The Real Supermum says:

I think we have all been guilty of not commenting at times but we are missing out on spreading your own blog around the blogesphere.

  7. I agree. I try to make some sort of comment on all that I read. I do a lot of reading on my iPhone and will often go to the trouble of turning the computer on so that I can comment more easily. There is nothing more disheartening than a day of high traffic and not a single comment. X

    • The Real Supermum says:

Hey Lucy, how are you today? Oh your clever, I can not even switch an iPhone on ha. Yes no comments are never nice and makes you start questioning yourself.

  8. I’m good thanks Emma. Although really not that clever. For example, I still have no idea about SEO. lol. There is far too much jargon and geeky terminology with this blogging lark. But I’m researching away so I guess I’ll learn in the end.

    • The Real Supermum says:

Well I promise to write a very easy step by step guide to explain it x

      • If you could write a REALLY EASY guide to it then I’d definitely be there reading (and commenting, I promise!) because it all seems like gobbledigook to me. It feels like those people that are ‘in the know’ about these things like to keep it in the club and not share the information in a way that mere beginners can understand.
I’m considering setting up my own domain and self hosting (and luckily my dad is really in the know about that) but then the idea of having to deal with HTML is very scary to me. Although my hubby says he did a unit on it at university so he should be able to help me when I get to that stage. But surely it can’t be that hard? I think people like us to think that it’s hard so that we’ll think they’re clever. If only all the brainiacs out there would dumb it down, just a little, so that I can understand.
        x

  9. Wow, your blog really does cover everything, so glad I found it! This is such a good point. It’s too easy to be in a rush and not leave a comment. I’ll definitely make sure I comment more in the future.

  10. The Real Supermum says:

Hey Cat thanks for stopping by x Its a very active and manic blog lol x

  11. Amy Whyley says:

Stealing traffic!! http://www.amumsmadness.com haha! I’m one of Emma’s writers so have a nosy at my blog ;) its in dire need of some comments! Thanks for the chance to rob some traffic xx

  12. What a great article! I am very guilty of being a lurker and not really commenting, but from now on I promise not just to lurk but to voice my comments as well!

  13. Thanks so much for the tips! I try to leave comments all the time and always always reply to comments left for me. It’s the polite thing to do now isn’t it?:)

  14. Helen Neale says:

Hi The Real Supermum. A great post, and I do agree with you, though as a newbie, I am afraid I have been lurking a bit too. Its hard when you first start out to know what to say. You are also not 100% sure that what you are saying is giving you the right voice. Being a total worrier, I don’t want to say something to offend :-) unintentionally. Though I suspect to be a great blogger you have to have relatively thick skin! I am sure I am gonna get over these doubts though, so I can make my blog a success. Thanks for the advice and encouragement. Sure I shall be a happy blogger when my blog launches.

  15. Prozacblogger says:

    Brilliant post!

    Leave a comment – leave a comment – leave a comment, is all I read :P

This is a true conversation starter. And it leaves people to try it out first at your post. Great way of grabbing your readers interest!

Really, really smart blogging. That’s what going on here. :)

    Sincerely,

    – Prozacblogger

    • The Real Supermum says:

Well how nice for you to join us – ha ! Only took you a few weeks to drop on by x Comments are great, it annoys me to see 35 visitors on your blog & not 1 comment left gggrrr a pet hate of mine :)

    • Prozacblogger, my eyes were immediately drawn to your name, didn’t realise there was another blog out there with Prozac in the title! Have put your blog in my favourites to read at a later point along with this one. I added you both on twitter as well. Loving this blog!

  16. Jodie Smith says:

Would hate to be considered rude! i often read blog posts on my phone and can’t comment but often end up replying on twitter instead.

i am rubbish at commenting so will try to improve.

  17. Everything you have written is 100% correct and I agree with it. But sometimes I find myself just feeling that all I could contribute would be “I agree with you wholeheartedly, and I’m sure someone with an idea of how to fix this problem / make more of the opportunity will be along shortly as I don’t have a clue!”

But I guess that’s not what people want to read is it? So I don’t leave the comments very often. I don’t want to look like I’ve not thought about my comment, so I don’t leave one, but if I never leave one I’ll never get better at it will I????

    Arrrrgghghghghghgh
I’m off to get some chocolate and attempt to find worthwhile comments for other people’s blogs :)

  18. Helen Ford says:

brilliant advice I think ive commented on everyone ive read so far xx

  19. I always get excited when I get comments but I do feel let down if I think it is an obvious attempt at getting me to go and check out their blog in return. I do always visit the blog of anyone who leaves me a comment as I am always on the look out for new blogs to read but I only leave comments if I really feel like I have something to say on the matter. Otherwise I think people might end up reading my comments and thinking I am just trying to advertise my blog, if you see what I mean?! x

  20. I totally believe this is a great way to get your blog noticed.
I hardly had any comments on my blog and the only comments I did get were from people who had read my comment on a very popular blog (I also commented on her facebook page) and came to check out the post I was referring too.
I’m now trying to get in to the habit of commenting on every post I read.
    :)

  21. Haha well it certainly worked on this blog. Hello everyone btw I’m new to all this blogging so blogs like this are amazing. I write then post – hardly have time for that never mind editing.

Helen Ford (if you come back) don’t suppose you have a son called Luke?

  22. This is a brilliant idea and one I’ve never really thought of to be honest but I think I do remember someone telling me or maybe I read it some where that it was a good idea to post on other peoples blogs as it gets your blog noticed! Will have to start commenting more, because I work full time I find it hard to fit in the time to read other blogs never mind comment on them and also having to write content for my own blog. God it’s a bit stressful but I’ll get there in the end :)

  23. This is great advice for a newbie like myself. I have been blogging for five weeks and feel like I am doing ok. I have started following other blogs and am gaining confidence when it comes to leaving comments. I guess it can only get easier!

  24. Jack Freeman says:

    Information nicely presented and useful.

  25. Hi

Thanks for writing this post. The title really intrigued me and I am glad I read the post. Your comment about looking round someone’s house and not saying hello is so true…I wouldn’t do that! I’d never really thought about it..to be honest. …never knew quite what to write in a comment box. But you’ve made me change my ways. From now on I shall always comment when I have read a post. :-)

Please feel free to come and look at my blog http://www.mymummyreviews.blogspot.com and you can browse all my reviews.

    Have a fab evening.

    Best wishes, My Mummy Reviews

  26. Thx for a great repost – will try the twitter tip from now on to maximise impact. Also like the reply to first comment idea…

  27. I love reading and commenting on your blog, to other bloggers I think this post is excellent advice, I myself have also taken some advice from it, in the past I have just wrote what I think as a comment and not read it back to make sure it is perfect but now I will do this. Thank you for the advice x

  28. Narrowboat Wife says:

Great advice. There is lots of blog advice on Brit Mums too. I’m often reading on iPhone which makes it painstakingly slow to comment – tiny buttons! But of course blogging should be a conversation :-)

  29. Very interesting post. I am still quite new to the whole blogging world – but it makes sense to me.
    Thank you for sharing! :)
