Why I dont envy women with straight or wavy hair

42 19749363 Why I dont envy women with straight or wavy hair

Since the day I was born my mum always knew I would end up hating my hair by the time I hit my teens. You see naturally my hair is strawberry blonde and curly as hell. strangers used to comment on how lovely my hair was, how much they would love to have curls like mine and the colour was the loveliest colour ever.

When I started primary school no one commented on my hair colour or the fact it was curly and frizzy. So it never bothered me one bit.42 19749489 Why I dont envy women with straight or wavy hair then I got to high school and then the problems began!! I heard every taunt under the sun and boy did it hurt. At 13 I bought 2 bottles of non permant dark brown hair dye which went horrible wrong it turned out black and never washed out. So ever since I was 13 I have dyed my hair once a month, cant work out how many hair dyes thats been over 10 years as its been that many colours and having to buy 2 or 3 hair dyes every time I want to change colours.
Another thing, I always hear from friends or see on facebook a girl or adult moaning how frizzy their hair is and I look at them before its been straightened and thought to myself what on earth are you moaning for?? as 9 times out of 10 their hair is almost straight or slightly wavy. Fair enough every one hate their hair but I always think you dont realise how lucky you are it only takes you half an hour to an hour to fix make it look how you want it too. Try having my hair which can take anything from an hour n a haf to 5 hours to get it right.

Having naturaly curly hair can be a pain in the bum sometimes and I mean a real pain, sometimes I feel cursed having the type of hair, I do, but thank god every day for my nicky clarke hair dryer and straighteners. They have been an absolute god send as they are the only straighteners that work. so next time you wake up or dry your hair and think oh my days how frizzy is my hair today??

  1. I totally agree ! I wouldn’t be anywhere without my nicky clarke hairdryer and straightners! xx

  2. Stacey Cameron says:

Oh no… My hair has a slight wave and I don’t complain about frizz, I would welcome it. because then maybe I could be like everyone else and decide wether to be straight or curly haired for the day, my hair will not curl whatsoever, I have tried all methods and mass amounts of products but still no curls, or should I say curls but drops within 5 secs. I understand where your coming from but there is the other end and it’s not too good being here either :( x

    • Totally agree with Stacey – my hair is almost straight. Not straight enough to be trendy straight (is anyone’s?), not quite wavy enough for that beach-look that’s popular at the moment, and not the casual curl that both my parents boasted. In fact, I have had hairdressers hang their heads at my hairs’ reluctance to curl. While it’s fairly easy to comb through and deal with after washing, not all non-frizzy hair is easy. It’s not cool and it looks like it needs a wash days before it really does! Grass being always greener.

  3. My hair is a frizz bomb. It looks like I’ve put my fingers in the socket but I just put it up and leave it. Worse was when I tried to go blonde. Cos my hair has tints of red in it went orange and 8 bleaches later it was still the same but snaping off

  4. i feel your pain huni, altho i do believe ur hair in its natural form is beautiful. My eldest dayghters hair is super curly and has even more frizz. She was 5 when she asked for hair straighteners – which i didnt buy her, altho i did straighten it once and she actually looked really weird. I hope when she hits her teenage years there will be many products they she can use as i do agree with putting things in her hair on a daily basis yet. If she has a bath in the night her hair is like candyfloss in the morning, but i still love her her though, its unique and almost part of her personality in a way x

  5. Michelle Hughes says:

Embrace your beauty hun :) I love my hair its thick and a mess with out straightners but I love it :) x x

  6. Amy Whyley says:

I’m naturally curly, the shorter I cut it the tighter the curls go. I blow dry mine straight then straighten the life out of it. I was a strawberry blond, now it can’t decide if its blond or brown (I have naturally dark roots and the rest is blond, it looks like a bad dye job-naturally!) i’ve dyed mine since I was 14 and with all the dying and straightening I think i’ve about killed it lol. Love this post, its so true! xx

  7. Tarnya Harradine says:

I know this is odd but when I was little my hair was brown and straight but really thick, as soon as I hit pubity it went really curly and frizzy plus thick. I didnt know what to do with it so got bullied at school however now I used some hair products and on the odd occasion straighten it but because its thick it takes a long time to straighten!!!! Now I thank god I have thick hair coz when I get old il still have some hair when it startd to fall out. :)

  8. Naturally my hairs curly and has been straightened so much for the last 10 years the front bits don’t curl properly anymore. It is so thick even when it’s straightened with GHDs it still goes outwards and not straight down. Every single day I have to GHD it, then I scrape it up in a pony then gel the life out the top bit to keep it flat. Yes women who moan about their hair get on my nerves!! I could never ever go out with it straight down i llook like a banshee!! The only time it looks good is if I pay for a braZillian blowdry which is what I get every time I go out with my girlfriends. It costs £150 a go!!! They used to call me Afro zo at school…. Kids r cruel!!

  9. Catherine says:

My hair is dead straight and thin, I would love a bit of volume in my hair! I would spend ages trying to curl it, and more recently, back coming it and putting on loads of hair spray! My sister, on the other hand has beautiful curly hair, which she will spend 2 hours straightening! How I wish I could swap….!

  10. Emma Wallis says:

I don’t think any woman is happy with their hair lol. My eldest has a sort of strawberry blond tint and her’s is wavy. I love it but I know she’ll probably hate it..x

  11. reannesmom says:

True, every1 moans about there hair, if I dnt straighten mine its wavy not curly or straight inbetween lol, I av a tint of red in me its like a browny shitty colour, well thas how I describe it lol, been bleach blond, brown black blonde brown yes and I’m black again now lol, I av reminghton straighteners which r reli good , why don’t u put a perm on hun but not the rollers it relaxes the hair, if brushed thru Xx

  12. Michelle Hughes says:

    Wow £150 for a blowdry that’s crazy x

  13. I used to have really horrible dry frizzy hair when i was a teen and we didn’t have straigners :s god knows how i lived without sraightners.. another thing i’ve had from a teen is GREY hair :/ alot of it aswell. I dye my hair loads its purple atm lol. I love my hair now though!! xx

  14. I definatley agree, my hair being almost the same, my mum has afro hair so mines like soft afro not stiff lol, but it is so hard to cope with that i keep it relaxed to make it more managable, i used to hate my hair so much but as ive got older ive just learnt i can do so much with it! :) never dyed my hair tho with it being so dark gosd knows how many id need lol!! xxx

  15. Helen Ford says:

one thing iv never done is dye my hair it changes colour, iv got dark brown hair that gets darker in winter, blonde tints in summer and auburn tints in autumn, this use to really annoy me and now iv embraced it as my own personal seasonal dye. my hair used to be like tight corkscrew curls and now when its longer is long relaxed waves (when its got a crapload of product on it) Iv learnt how to tousle it with my straighteners and am now happy with my hair as when i was younger it used to look like id stuck my finger in the socket if i just dried it without doing anything to it. xxx

  16. Laura-Sue Evans says:

well im sure you have all seen my pics on emma’s page, an oh my days do i hate my hair. i get that it may not be easy on the other side either but i woud just love for my hair to be more manageable. i wish i could afford a brazillian blow dry but i have other things to pay for 1st like a new bedroom for my son, a new house as we aint staying in blackpool, new furniture etc. by the time ive saved up for anything something crops up may it be a birthday or christmas as usual lol. i just think some women count themselves lucky they dont have my hair or have to deal with it and really should ease off moaning about how bad it is as theres always some one out there worse off xx

  17. emily williams says:

i know the feeling. i have naturally curly hair and its always been a battle to keep it looking good. i have since killed my curls with ecsessive use of strong peroxide, but it still very much has a mind of its own, i need a ton of products everyday to get it looking half decent.

  18. my hair has the texture of candy floss lol, tbh its not too bad, i love my ghd’s they’re the only ones that keep it straight all day and it will not curl, even if it’s all totally hard from hairspray curls drop out straight away x

  19. My hair doesn’t come under any category other than maybe ‘mess’. Its a mixture between every style going. I have a ‘cows lick’ and my natural parting is the weirdest going. As soon as I am out the bath I part, blow dry and straighten. xx

  20. mikayla gunner says:

my hair is really fly away, some is curly, some is wavy and some is straight! i guess im lucky as i can have it curly if i want, or its easy to straigten, but when i do it my self, it looks so flat and lifeless! i can never be bothered with my hair really! i just shove it up – more time to spend with my kids then!

  21. My hair is a complete mess! If I don’t straighten it, it ends up looking like iv been dragged threw a bush backwards lol xx
