Help With Teething Troubles

Just when you thought you had finally got the hang of motherhood, when you were getting used to the great routine. Your life resembled some kind of normality, it all gets thrown up into the air again.

Your baby is teething!

The 1st tooth normally appears around 6 months, but this can vary greatly.

The dribble is causing a nasty red rash on the chin, your changing babies top every few minutes as its dripping wet with saliva. Those chubby little cheeks are bright red and everything within reach is being thrust into their mouths.

They start waking during the night, they don’t want to be put down, teething can be exhausting.

Their temperature can raise and you start to panic, is this down to teething or is your baby ill?

Nappy rash often accompanies teething and this alone can be a nightmare to treat. They may be off their food and generally just out of sorts, for most of the time we feel useless.

There are numerous teething remedies available, the most common being teething gels that you rub onto their gums, herbal powders and teething toys. I have found the best comforter to be a cold clean wet flannel. In honestly anything that is hard and safe is ideal. The teething toys I have never found to be particular helpful.

Medication in the form of Calpol or Nurofen can be given if baby is really finding teething hard.

Then just when that new little tooth finally appears and you get back into your old routine, guess what? Another tooth is on its way …

What did you find helped  your baby?

My lg coped quite well with teething, only tell tale signs were red flushed cheeks and got abit of a cold :/ when she did struggle though we used dentinox teething gel which i thought was amazing!! i like to try stuff 1st before giving it to her so i just put a little dab on my tongue and it was well and truly numb haha. :) Thank god for dentinox as i think the teething stage could have got ugly lol xx
